WebJack Sinclair Kilby was an American electrical engineer credited with inventing the integrated circuit in 1959. For this achievement, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics on December 10, 2000. Kilby is also the co-inventor of the handheld calculator and the thermal printer, as well as seven other inventions.
